calcog is the california association of councils of governments. we are a nonprofit, social welfare organization formed to serve regional governments. we have 47 member agencies. each appoints a representative from their legislative body to serve on the calcog board. and, in recognition of the inter-relationship between regional and local governments, both the california state association of counties and the league of california cities may also appoint a representative to the calcog board of directors. we work for and on behalf of regional governments in california. we serve our regional members so that they can better serve their local cities and counties. we recognize that each region in california is unique. but all can learn from the experience of others. we are dedicated to ensuring the success of our 46 member agencies by facilitating communication and information sharing between our members, local officials, state and federal agencies, involved stakeholders, and the public. effective regional governance is about helping every community become more prosperous, equitable, and environmentally sustainable. calcog works to assure effective regional governance so that california’s regional agencies have the tools, information, and capacity to best serve their member cities and counties.
