the chambers federation is an award winning, us-based, accredited impact investment firm. recipient of the 2019 us secretary of state’s award for corporate excellence (ace), the federation specializes in women’s economic empowerment, responsible sourcing and value addition in the artisanal cocoa, coffee and gold sectors. in collaboration with dfid, chambers federation, through its fair congo initiatives, a blended for-profit and non-profit model, led in the formalization of the drc’s chocolate sector by creating the first chocolate production facility whose supply chains from the farmer to the chocolate maker is made up entirely of women. the federation is currently leading in the formalization of the drc’s jewelry sector with the first asm gold jewelry production line in-country, completed by survivors of gbv. the federation was recently granted the first categorical exemption in us history to a withhold release order (wro), making it the only company allowed by the united states customs and border patrol and department of homeland security (us-cbp/dhs) to import asm gold into the us from the drc. actively exporting to north america and europe, including exports to germany, france, netherlands and the uk, fair congo has been the critical private sector partner for all of the responsible gold programs in the drc. chambers federation continues to build inclusive, sustainable business in conflict-affected and high-risk areas, focusing on creating stability and economic empowerment in the lives of women in areas of conflict. the federation’s subsidiary in the drc, fair congo, has maintained a comptoir license with the ability to buy, sell and export artisanal gold, and whose supply chains are the only regional gold supply chain to fully adhere to oecd ddg as well as have supply contracts with members of the lbma. fair congo was created, with non-financial support, through a collaboration agreement between the federation and the usaid.
